TFTA BOARD OF DIRECTORS COME TOGETHER IN NASHVILLE |
| -- Nashville, TN - 10/01/2007 -- |
TFTA's Board of Directors came together for their first quarterly meeting of the 2008 fiscal year at Watkins College of Art and Design in Nashville, Tennessee on October 24th.
The Board welcomed guests Rich Boyd, Executive Director of the Tennessee Arts Commission, Keith Cuhna, TAC's Director of Technology and partner in Orion3Designs, and Betsy Reid, TAC member from Brownsville, Tennessee.
Among items discussed was the importance of increasing TFTA's membership base. Bob Willie, TFTA's President states, “TFTA is taking its efforts to a whole new level of action on behalf of the arts in Tennessee. We must continue to work to get as many people on board through membership as we possibly can. Numbers speak louder than words.”
Molly Pratt, Legislative Consultant for TFTA, discussed legislative priorities for the arts, including p rotection of the License Plate Program, working with the legislative Sunset Review process to ensure extension of the existence of TAC for four years, and continuing to support and advance the work of TAC.
Rich Boyd discussed development of an arts advocacy toolkit in partnership with TFTA due to be unveiled at the TAC Governor's Conference on the Arts in May, 2008. According to Stephanie Conner, TFTA's Executive Director, “most effective advocacy groups, arts and otherwise, across the country have Advocacy Toolkits of varying degrees. This is an essential tool that TFTA should offer its constituency. Our partnership with the Tennessee Arts Commission enables us to do that.”
Keith Cuhna, with Orion3Designs, presented TFTA's new website and introduced the Board to all of its interactive capabilities. “Bringing TFTA up to speed technologically provides good communication opportunities for TFTA's members and the general public. As the technological face for TFTA, our professional yet easy-to-navigate website will serve us well”, says Willie.
The next meeting of the TFTA Board is scheduled for noon, January 16 th , 2008 in Nashville.
